This applet animates collisions of solitons in the classical sine-Gordon equation. It first prepares an initial state with two solitons, then follows their time evolution by numerical integration of the sine-Gordon differential equation. The parameters v1 and v2 are the initial rapidities (speeds) of the two solitons, which should be numbers between zero and one. Its fun to see the `Lorentz contraction' of the solitons as the rapidities get closer to one.
